Creating a Party-Ready Kitchen

Summer is the perfect time to host a soiree, but if you’ve been anti-social because you’re worried your kitchen can’t handle a party, we can help! Incorporate these features into your remodel and your party-ready kitchen will be ready just in time for Labor Day!

An open layout is important for entertaining if you don’t want to be separated from your own party. A host no longer needs to be hidden away in the kitchen, only to appear every so often with a serving tray. An open layout allows you to tend to the food while mingling with guests. A kitchen that opens to your living or dining room makes it easy for all guests to mingle without making anyone feel awkward or excluded. It also allows you more space to invite more people – the more the merrier!

The bar is often the most frequented area during a party. We can build you a custom built-in wet bar that won’t take up much space in your kitchen, but will serve as a complete beverage station and keep people from rummaging through your refrigerator. A good wet bar has plenty of storage for glasses and spirits, an ice machine, sink and even a wine cooler or a miniature dishwasher.

A large island peninsula or other serving area is important unless you want to be grabbing card tables out of storage every time you have guests over. An island is great for serving because it is easily maneuverable with a crowd. A multilevel island can also be very handy during a party because it keeps the cooking station out of sight while providing a higher bar area for quests to gather or set down beverages. Additionally, the higher countertop can be used as a serving area or snack bar.

A television in the kitchen might be a no-no during family dinner, but a flat-screen television is a must if you plan on entertaining during sporting events. You could have a 20-foot plasma television in the living room, but guests will congregate in your kitchen anyway (humans tend to gravitate toward food). We can build you a custom space for your flat screen television so it’s easily viewable during the Super Bowl, but you can hide it away when you’re not watching it.
